Man faces drug, burglary charges

Drug and burglary charges are pending against an 18-year-old Kaka'ako man arrested Tuesday in possession of property stolen from a Pi'ikoi Street business, police said.

HPD Lt. Mitchell Kiyuna said yesterday the suspect is believed to be associated with "more than one other person" in a series of recent burglaries in the Pa'wa'a, Kaka'ako, Ala Moana and Kapi'olani business districts. The small ring may be responsible for 10 to 15 burglaries since late March. .

Woman killed in Fort Weaver crash

A 31-year-old 'Ewa Beach woman died Wednesday night at St. Francis Medical Center-West about an hour after she was involved in a head-on collision on Fort Weaver Road near 'A'awa Drive at West Loch Fairways.

The woman was a front-seat passenger in a 1992 Nissan in the 9 p.m. collision with a 1995 Dodge that had crossed a grass median. Police said the 18-year-old driver of the Dodge was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle.

The woman died at 10:18 p.m. Three others in the Nissan — a man, 33, and two boys, ages 9 and 2 — as well as the driver of the Dodge and a 16-year-old male passenger were taken to The Queen's Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be serious, police said.

School bus, trucks in H-1 collision

No one was seriously injured yesterday in a 9:05 a.m. collision on the H-1 Freeway near the westbound Waipahu off-ramp that involved two pickup trucks and a school bus carrying 34 seventh-grade students from St. John Vianney School in Kailua.

Lee Gomes, general manager of Gomes School Bus Service, said the bus driver could not avoid the collision. School officials confirmed that no students were injured.

Four men sought in Kalihi robbery

Police are looking for four men who are wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred early Thursday morning on Dillingham Boulevard.

According to police reports, one man entered a store, walked up to the sales clerk, brandished a knife and demanded money. After the man took the money, he and another man took hard liquor and cigarettes from the store. Two other men also removed beer from the store. All four of the men fled the store on foot.

Student arrested in robbery attempt

Police arrested a 13-year-old Kalihi Middle School student Wednesday morning in connection with the attempted robbery of another student.

The girl is accused of walking up to a classmate and demanding money. The girl allegedly kicked the other student in the stomach while trying to get her to hand over money. When the victim failed to produce money, the girl released her, police said.

School authorities were notified of the incident and detained the girl for police. Police arrested the girl, but later released her pending further investigation.
