Saturday's race traveled from Kahului Harbor, Maui, to the Aston Ka'anapali Shores Resort; Sunday's race went from Fleming's Beach, Maui, to Kaluako'i Beach, Moloka'i.

Mike Spalding was the captain of Makakoa. Other members of the winning crew were Eric Barto, Carter Barto, Ozzie Clark, Davin Lum and Will Estes.

Kamakakoa, led by captain Marvin Otsuji, placed second in both races.

The all-female crew aboard Moaeku placed third in Sunday's race.

The races featured traditional Hawaiian outrigger canoes equipped with sails. The next races in the series are scheduled for June 21-22.
