State sheriffs in Wahiawa today captured two escapees from Laumaka Work Furlough Center in Kalihi.

Michael Rosado, 28, and Rockford Matsuura, 22, were arrested 4:30 p.m. at an Ihoiho Place residence in Whitmore Village.

"They're going to be taken to district court and then be returned to prison," said Honolulu police Detective Letha DeCaires.

Sheriffs also arrested a 49-year-old man and his 23-year-old daughter who were at the residence for outstanding warrants.

Rosado and Matsuura, who were serving the last six months of their prison terms, were discovered missing yesterday from the minimum-security facility.

Laumaka's population is made up of community custody inmates or short-timers who are allowed to work in the community. Rosado and Matsuura were due to be released in December and November, respectively, said O'ahu Community Correctional Center Warden Francis Sequeira.

The two men were present at a 10 p.m. bed check Thursday but were discovered missing four hours later.

Rosado was convicted of attempted murder and burglary. He has been in prison since February 1993. Matsuura has been incarcerated since August 1998 for armed robbery and auto theft. The escape will likely result in both men being sent back to the Halawa Correctional Facility, Sequeira said.
