KEY HOUSE VOTES

1. Wildfires

On Tuesday, the House voted 256-170 to pass a bill to speed up logging in forests to prevent wildfires. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.
Hawai'i votes: Neil Abercrombie (D) nay; Ed Case (D), nay

2. Defense budget

On Thursday, the House voted 361-68 to pass a bill that would authorize about $400 billion for defense programs in fiscal 2004. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

3. Jobless benefits

On Thursday, the House voted 409-19 to pass a bill to extend unemployment insurance benefits by 13 weeks. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

4.Tax cuts

On Friday, the House voted 231-200 to pass a $350 billion tax-cut package that includes aid to states and a refundable child-tax credit. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

KEY SENATE VOTES

1. Nuclear weapons

On Tuesday, in a 51-43 vote, the Senate killed an amendment to the defense bill that would have repealed a 10-year-old ban on developing low-yield nuclear weapons. A "yea" vote was to kill the amendment.
Hawai'i votes: Daniel Akaka (D) nay; Dan Inouye (D) did not vote

2. Tax cuts

On Friday, the Senate voted 51-50 to pass a $350 billion tax-cut package that includes aid to states and a refundable child-tax credit. Vice President Cheney broke a 50-50 tie. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.
Hawai'i votes: Daniel Akaka (D) nay; Dan Inouye (D) nay

What's ahead: The House and Senate are on a weeklong recess for Memorial Day. Congress will return the week of June 2.
