Police seek driver who hit man on South Kuakini Street

Police are seeking witnesses to help them find the driver involved in a recent hit-and-run accident that injured a pedestrian.

The accident happened about 2 p.m. May 18 near South Kuakini Street and Pali Highway. A man in his 60s was walking mauka in a crosswalk on South Kuakini Street when a sedan heading in the kokohead direction hit him and drove off, police said.

The man suffered a broken left leg, police said.

Witnesses said the driver was a woman and described her car as a pink or champagne-colored, late-model American sedan. Following the accident, the woman continued makai on Pali Highway. A motorist who witnessed the accident attempted to block her from entering the freeway, but she turned on a side street near Honpa Hongwanji Mission School and was lost in traffic, police said.
