Woman's death, man's fall in Waikiki investigated

By William Cole
Advertiser Staff Writer

A 31-year-old woman was found dead in a Waikiki hotel room after a man who lived in the room apparently jumped from the fourth floor early yesterday morning and was injured, police said.

Police who arrived at the room in the Holiday Surf Hotel at 2303 Ala Wai Blvd. also found an infant, who was turned over to Child Protective Services.

The woman appeared to have been dead at least several days, but authorities yesterday said it was unclear how she died.

Homicide investigators were leading the case.

An autopsy is scheduled for today.

The man was in stable condition at The Queen's Medical Center, having apparently jumped sometime before 4:50 a.m., police said.

A white bassinet stood in the hallway outside the fourth-floor room as police worked inside.

A hotel employee said the man had lived at the hotel for six to eight weeks and that the woman joined him about a month ago.
