Tonight's Must-See

"Berga: Soldiers of Another War," 8 p.m., PBS. Charles Guggenheim was preparing to head into World War II with the 106th Division, when a leg infection kept him stateside. Some of his colleagues never made it back. Captured during the Battle of the Bulge, they were transported in boxcars, without food or drink. Some Jewish soldiers went to Berga, a brutal labor camp. Later, as a documentary maker, Guggenheim would win four Oscars. He continued to wonder what happened to the men of the 106th. Then he made this brilliant, black-and-white film, combining interviews and re-enactments. He finished his work six weeks before his death, adding an involving finale to a great career.

"Na Hoku Hanohano Awards," 7:30 p.m., KFVE. This year's 26th annual edition of awards for achievements in Hawai'i music has four artists leading the nominations with six nods each — Na Palapalai, Hulu Lindsey, 'Ale'a and first-time nominee Raiatea Helm. Broadcast live from the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

Of Note

"Fame" premiere, 7 p.m., NBC. This reality series loosely borrows the spirit of the movie about a high school for singers, dancers and actors. Debbie Allen (who starred in the earlier TV series based on the movie) begins tonight by holding national auditions. Then she'll take them to a song-and-dance boot camp, eliminating some in the weeks ahead.

"American Masters: Robert Capa: In Love and War," 9:30 p.m., PBS. As a Jewish teenager from Hungary, Endre Friedmann had little success. Then he changed his name to Robert Capa and became a wildly successful photographer. Capa romanced

Ingrid Bergman and befriended and photographed Pablo Picasso, John Huston, Gary Cooper and Humphrey Bogart. Mostly, though, he was known for the bitter beauty of his war photos. As narrated by Goran Visnjik ("ER"), this film captures his somber craftsmanship.
