UH to play in WAC soccer tourney

The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team will open play at the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Friday in Dallas.

The Rainbows (13-4-2 overall, 7-1 WAC) have a first-round bye and will meet the winner of Thursday's Rice-Fresno State game.

UH and host Southern Methodist ended the regular season as conference co-champions. The Mustangs earned the tournament's top seed by virtue of their 4-3 victory over the Rainbow Wahine on Oct. 3.


BASKETBALL

• UH women to play Chinese: The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine will play the Chinese national team in an exhibition game Nov. 16 at the Stan Sheriff Center. Tipoff is 5 p.m.

General admission tickets are on sale at the Sheriff box office, or by calling 944-2697 or via the internet at etickethawaii.com. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for senior citizens. UH students and children ages 4 through 18 will be admitted free.

The game will be Team China's final leg of a tour, which includes two games against a WNBA All-Star squad and exhibition at Oregon State.

The Rainbow Wahine open the regular season Nov. 22 against Lipscomb in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic at the Sheriff Center.

Season tickets — $75 for adults and $60 for senior citizens, all general admission — are now on sale. Children ages 4 to 18 and UH students will be admitted free.
