Group endorses Hannemann

The Hawaii Building Trades Council has given Mufi Hannemann its endorsement in the 2004 mayoral race.

The council composed of a dozen labor unions and 15 construction businesses represents more than 25,000 union members across the state.

Council Executive Director Buzzy Hong said Hannemann's ability to bring labor and business together was unusual.

"Rarely in a political race do you see a group of labor unions and businesses united on one issue," he said. "That's quite a tribute to Mufi, who is clearly able to bring diverse groups with differing viewpoints together for a common goal."
