Nanakuli Housing gets $21,500

The Nanakuli Housing Corporation has received a $21,500 grant from the Compassion Capital Fund of the Hawai'i Community Foundation.

The corporation will use the money for technology upgrades at its base-yard facility at Sand Island, said Paige Barber, its president and chief executive officer.


Ka'ala Farm Inc. to purchase land

Ka'ala Farm Inc. has received a $25,000 grant from First Hawaiian Foundation.

Ka'ala Farm is a nonprofit group based in Wai'anae involved in cultural education and environmental conservation. It will use the money to buy a parcel of land needed to expand its programs.


Hawai'i Film Festival benefits

The Hawai'i International Film Festival has received more than $22,000 in grants this year for volunteer program development, including $5,000 each from the McInerny Foundation, the Mary D. and Walter F. Frear Eleemosynary Trust, the Cooke Foundation Ltd., and from an anonymous donor.

Also, the film festival received a $2,000 grant from the James and Sally Zukerkorn Foundation for general operating expenses.


Palolo school receives $5,000

The Read Aloud Program at Palolo Elementary School has received $5,000 as part of a third-quarter grant from the Tiger Woods Foundation to the national Read Aloud America program.
