Police arrested a third suspect yesterday in connection with a shooting that left one man dead and another critically injured Saturday night in the parking lot of Longs Drug Store in Pearl City.

The suspect, a 22-year-old man, was arrested without incident on suspicion of murder. On Monday, police took two other men, age 22 and 26, into custody on suspicion of the same murder.

Police said the shooting occurred after a group of men got into an argument at approximately 9:48 p.m. in front of Longs, in the parking lot of the Pearl City Shopping Center.

Two men fired a total of seven shots, killing the passenger and severely injuring the driver of a white Honda.

The passenger has been identified as Guyan Nuuhiwa, a 26-year-old 'Aiea resident, who was shot four times in the head and back.

The driver of the car, Winston Domingo, 24, also of 'Aiea, was shot three times in the shoulder, leg and arm as he tried to flee. Domingo is hospitalized in critical condition and police have been unable to question him.

Nuuhiwa graduated from 'Aiea High School in 1995. Domingo graduated from the school in 1997.

Police yesterday did not disclose any motive for the shooting, but said the weapon involved was a semi-automatic pistol.

Homicide Lt. Bill Kato yesterday said investigators are looking into a possible link between the Pearl City murder and another fatal shooting six days earlier in neighboring 'Aiea, because of their close proximity to one another and since both involved unidentified assailants.

On the evening of Oct. 26, 49-year-old Greg Morishima was gunned down by three masked men in the garage of a Pamoho Place home in 'Aiea. The gunmen fled in a sport utility vehicle and are at large. Police said that two men were carrying pistols and the third man had a rifle.

"There is nothing glaring out there telling us to look (at any connection) — it's just what we do," Kato said.

Police are awaiting ballistics lab results to see if the two shootings are linked.

Morishima, an assistant parking supervisor at Aloha Stadium, was visiting a friend when he was killed at 9:20 p.m.

Police said Morishima was shot at least three times. An autopsy determined that he died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Homicide investigators said the shooting may be drug-related. Police had conducted several narcotics raids at the Pamoho Place home where Morishima was killed.

The two men arrested on Monday in the Pearl City shooting have criminal records. The 22-year-old is on probation for a firearm conviction. The 26-year-old has convictions for misdemeanor assault and terroristic threatening.
