Senior Olympics Nov. 15

The sixth annual Hawai'i Senior Olympics will begin Nov. 15 with opening ceremonies set for 10 a.m. at the mayor's cultural fair at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

Competition in 11 sports is planned.

The Hawai'i games are open to any male or female from anywhere who is at least 50 by Dec. 31, 2003. Competition is arranged in 5-year age groups.

In addition, most sports are open to "pre-senior" competitors from ages 40 to 49; swimming and track events are open to masters competitors.

Approximately 350 seniors from Hawai'i and other states and Canada are expected to participate. Registration fee is $25 per person, and the deadlines vary by sport.
