Hawai'i women's golf ninth at Nevada

The University of Hawai'i golf team is in ninth place after shooting a 310 in the first round of the Las Vegas Founders Women's Collegiate Showdown yesterday at Henderson, Nev.
New Mexico leads the 15-team field with a 288 at Anthem Country Club.
Hawai'i's top golfer is Sara Odelius, who is tied for 12th at 2-over-par 74. She is six strokes behind leader Trisha Quick of Colorado State.
TENNIS
Eight qualify for Futures event: Eight players advanced to the main draw of the USTA Honolulu Futures Tournament yesterday at Ala Moana Beach Park and Diamond Head Tennis Center.
Jamie Gresh, Adam Seri, Fritz Wolmarans, Jamil Al-Agba, Trace Fielding, Trevor Spracklin, Aaron Talarico and Christopher Clayton won yesterday to advance to the main draw, which begins today at 10 a.m. at Ala Moana Beach Park.
BASEBALL CAMPS
University of Hawai'i-MAnoa: UH coach Mike Trapasso and staff, as well as UH players and Hawai'i high school coaches. Dec. 22-23 (hitting), Dec. 27-28 (hitting), Dec. 29-30 (pitching/catching) at Les Murakami Stadium. Ages 8 to 18. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Campers must provide own lunch. Fee: $115 per camp.
