BUSINESS BRIEFS
Ruby Tuesday due for Mililani

Advertiser Staff and News Services

A Hawai'i expatriate and two residents have acquired a franchise for the Tennessee-based casual dining chain Ruby Tuesday and plan to open their first restaurant in February at the Town Center of Mililani.

Will Keliinoi, a former Ruby Tuesday managing partner in North Alabama and a company trainer, partnered with local residents Ted Davenport and Rick Nakashima to expand the chain here.

Ruby Tuesday has about 650 company-owned and franchised restaurants in about 37 states, Puerto Rico, India, Iceland, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Central and South America. The Hawai'i Ruby Tuesday franchisees are searching for six to 10 locations, with hopes to open a second restaurant next summer.

Science & Tech adds quarters

Honolulu high-tech firm Science & Technology International has more than doubled its work space in anticipation of acquiring additional government contracts over the next few months.

The company occupies space in three downtown high-rises after moving into three floors, or 35,000 square feet, of First Hawaiian Center last week with an option to lease three more floors.

Nick Susner, company president and CEO, said the expansion was largely made to accommodate additional remote sensing work for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The 23-year-old firm, which has grown from 12 employees to 150 over the past 10 years, will maintain its corporate headquarters at Pacific Guardian Center, where it does medical research and classified government work. STI also has manufacturing and optical operations at City Center.
