Police arrest two in bank robbery
Two suspects in a car seen leaving the scene of a midmorning robbery at Hawaii National Bank's Dillingham Plaza branch were arrested yesterday on the Kane'ohe side of the Wilson Tunnel.
A Kalihi District patrol officer spotted a car fitting the description of the getaway vehicle and followed it on Likelike Highway. The police helicopter, which happened to be in the area, also tracked the car.
Windward O'ahu District officers stopped the car on the Kane'ohe side of the tunnel and arrested the two men inside. Police said there appeared to be evidence of money in the car.

School receives $1,500 in books
The Rotary Club of Downtown Honolulu, which has adopted Central Middle School, presented students in the English as a Second Language program with $1,500 worth of new textbooks yesterday.
The books were purchased through a grant from Rotary International.
The club also is supporting the school by judging its science fair, building a new circulation desk in the library, hosting essay contests and helping with campus beautification.
Clothing drive set Wednesday
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu will hold a Thanksgiving Clothing Drive from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tamarind Park downtown.
All types of items are needed, including clothes, shoes, toys and small household items, but not bulky items. Staff members will be in the park to collect donations and pass out tax receipts. The event will include live entertainment and prizes, including a turkey dinner provided by Sam Choy's restaurant.
Delegation plans Big Island visit
Leaders of the Legislature's two money committees will meet with key stakeholders on the Big Island during a three-day visit next week.
Starting Wednesday, the delegation will tour and inspect community programs and facilities, including several public schools, the University of Hawai'i at Hilo campus and housing projects.
The 12-member delegation will be led by Senate Ways and Means Chairman Brian Taniguchi, D-10th (Manoa, McCully), House Finance Chairman Dwight Takamine, D-1st (N. Hilo, Hamakua, N. Kohala) and Senate Ways and Means Vice Chairman Russell Kokubun, D-2nd (S. Hilo, Puna, Ka'u).

Marching bands to compete
More than 900 students from 12 O'ahu high schools will perform during the final marching band competition of the year at 6 p.m. Saturday at Mililani High School. Participating schools are 'Aiea, Waialua, Kailua, Farrington, Roosevelt, Kapolei, Iolani, Kahuku, Kalani, Kamehameha, Moanalua and Mililani.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students. For more information, call 627-7747.
