Power restored to 4,800 East Honolulu customers

Advertiser Staff

An estimated 4,800 East Honolulu customers lost power for nearly an hour today when a power line in Palolo came down.

The outage affected the Kapahulu, Wai'alae, Kaimuki and Waikiki areas, said Jose Dizon, Hawaiian Electric Co. spokesman.

Crews were unable to determine why the power line came down at about 11:19 a.m. on Wai'oma'o Road, Dizon said.

Power was rerouted around the line break, with service restored at 12:14 p.m., he said.
