Woman suspected of falsifying alibi

Police yesterday arrested a 20-year-old Kalihi woman on suspicion of giving a false alibi for one of the suspects in the Nov. 1 Pearl City robbery and fatal shooting of Guylan Nuuhiwa.

First-degree hindering-prosecution charges were pending against the woman, who allegedly was identified as being at the murder scene, the parking lot of the Pearl City Shopping Center.

The investigation turned up witnesses who saw her fleeing the scene with a suspect after providing an alibi for him, police said.

Homeless man suspect in attack

Second-degree robbery and kidnapping charges were pending against a 35-year-old homeless man who allegedly assaulted another man last night on Hotel Street and stole jewelry from him.

The victim, a 32-year-old 'Ewa Beach resident, told police that at about 9 p.m., the suspect grabbed him around the neck and forced him into the back of a business, where he allegedly assaulted and robbed him.

The suspect was arrested nearby, at 20 N. Hotel St.

Public thanked for aiding in arrest

The police Crimestoppers unit has thanked the public for tips leading to yesterday’s arrest of Randall Dean "Squeaky" Wallace, who was wanted for questioning in connection with an Aug. 12 robbery at the Kahala Mall.

Wallace, 45, was arrested on parole revocation and traffic warrants. The robbery case involved the theft of a red 2001 Honda Elite moped.

Police arrest man over beach attack

A 42-year-old Nanakuli man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault after he allegedly struck his girlfriend with nunchaku sticks, a martial-arts weapon, early yesterday morning.

Police were called to Nanakuli Beach at about 1 a.m. and were told the assault took place after the suspect found the victim there talking with other men, who are suspected drug dealers.

The woman suffered abrasions to her chin, and the suspect was bitten by two unleashed dogs belonging to one of the other men. He was treated for the bites at the Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, where the woman refused treatment.
