Lecture: 'Science and Buddhism'

Dr. Liana Mattulich, founder of Inner Key, will present a free lecture on "Science and Buddhism: Dynamic Parallels Between Technology and Ancient Wisdom," at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Buddhist Study Center, 1436 University Ave.

Over the past decade, Mattulich conducted training retreats, conferences and workshops, developing a combination of bio/neurofeedback technology and Eastern techniques. The physician practices Zen meditation daily and has studied Tibetan Buddhism for many years. She lives in Denver where she has a medical practice specializing in biofeedback and neurofeedback. Gospel music festival on tap

A free, two-hour gospel music festival, "Praising in Paradise," will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 22 at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 3950 Paine Circle. Participants include Trinity choirs and step teams, local gospel soloists and a hula halau. Call 438-6260 or 438-6278.

Interfaith service set for Nov. 26

On Thanksgiving eve, the religious communities in Nu'uanu Valley will join for expressions of gratitude at the 42nd annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service.

Among the congregations and choirs on hand will be Methodists, Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus, Unitarians, Episcopalians, Jews and members of the United Church of Christ, offering symbols, songs of thanksgiving and centerpieces.

The service will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin, 1727 Pali Highway; this year's theme is "Hope for the Future." Call 536-7044.

Catholic group plans gathering

The 53rd annual Diocesan Congress of Filipino Catholic Clubs convention will begin Friday at the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort, with the theme "Renew, Rebuild & Rejoice in the Lord."

The Rev. Joven "Jo-Jo" Junio will be spiritual director, and Sister Rosalinda Barrozo will be adviser for the conference.

Events include a parade of costumes, meetings, workshops, the keynote address by Clementian Cera, a banquet and a Sunday breakfast with procession and ceremony for Mary, followed by Mass.
