Bloch honored; UH sweeps

University of Hawai'i's Cheyne Bloch has been named the NCAA Division I Male Swimmer of the Week for the week ending Nov. 9, CollegeSwimming.com announced earlier this week.
Bloch, a senior from Wailuku, Maui, won two events at the California dual meet on Nov. 7. He won the 100 breaststroke in 54.94 seconds and the 200 breaststroke (2:00.49).
Men, women win: UH's men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Pacific last night at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
The UH men (8-3), ranked No. 17 nationally, defeated Pacific, 164-127. The women (8-2), ranked 24th, beat UOP, 172-111.
Two-event winners for UH were Andrew Affleck, Tudor Ignat, Kurt Boehm and Jonathan Coyle for the men and YingJuan Zhen and Katie Clewett for the women. Boehm had an NCAA provisional standard time of 1 minute, 47.72 seconds in the 200 butterfly.
