RONALD K. MIGITA, president and chief executive officer of CB Bancshares Inc., and vice chairman and chief executive officer of City Bank, has been elected president of the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation. Since 1986, the foundation has supported public-school programs and provided more than $2 million to teachers and schools statewide through its "Good Idea" grant program.

Other officers include:

• Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing, Hawai'i's fifth largest law firm, has added two associates, bringing the number of staff attorneys to 43:

  • MEI-FEI KUO joins the firm from her previous position as trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Environmental Torts Branch, Civil Division, in Washington, D.C. The graduate of the University of Hawai'i-Manoa and William S. Richardson School of Law, also has served as judicial law clerk for the Hawai'i Supreme Court, Intermediate Court of Appeals and as legal researcher for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
  • JAN VERNON comes to the firm as a former associate attorney for Tilly & Graves, Denver, where she specialized in products liability and professional malpractice defense.

• Local accounting and finance veteran DAVIN T. HIRONAKA has been named finance supervisor at local consulting engineering firm, M&E Pacific inc. Hironaka is past controller of AM Partners Inc., a Hawai'i-based international architecture firm; accounting supervisor at Y. Hata & Co. Ltd., and senior auditor at Arthur Andersen. M&E Pacific maintains offices in Honolulu, on the Big Island and on Maui.

JANICE GIBSON, previously a medical technologist at Atlanta's Shepherd Spinal Center, has been named coordinator of client services for Diagnostic Laboratory Services Inc., working with Diagnostic Labs' 15 nontesting satellite offices on O'ahu. The medical testing company offers, among other services, forensic toxicology and substance-abuse testing services statewide.

FRED KENISON JR., of National Mortgage & Finance, has been named controller for Finance Insurance Ltd., overseeing the company's accounting functions and compliance issues. Kenison also is an accounting employee for National Mortgage & Finance.

ROSALIE ROMO CHAR, who in 1999 joined Hawaiian Host Inc., makers of chocolate-covered macadamia nuts, has been promoted to marketing coordinator, overseeing marketing programs and activities. She has also served as March of Dimes development coordinator and WalkAmerica coordinator.

MEAGHAN TURNER, who as event project manager at Washington, D.C.'s Campbell Peachey & Associates coordinated such high-profile public events as the 25th Annual Kennedy Center Honors Gala, has been named office manager of the Hawaii Women's Business Center.

ANDREW KLUGER, chairman and chief executive officer of Hawaii Air Ambulance, has become the first person from Hawai'i to be elected to the Association of Air Medical Services national board of directors. The group, represents more than 700 members of the aeromedical service industry and helps set standards for that industry. Hawaii Air Ambulance is the state's only fixed-wing air ambulance provider, and has transported more than 23,000 local residents and visitors, including bringing critically ill or injured people from the Neighbor Islands to O'ahu for specialized care.
