How Hawai'i hotels are faring

Despite a 7.3 percent decline in occupancy, Kaua'i continued to lead in occupancy at 73.7 percent, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. Kaua'i's average daily rate also slipped to $138.46. Statewide hotel occupancy posted a 4.3 percent gain to 70.0 percent, but statewide room rates decreased by 4.3 percent to $126.96. O'ahu saw a strong increase in occupancy to 72.6 percent, although room rates fell. Maui hotels recorded the highest average room rate at $162.18.
