Smoke at hotel causes alarm

Guests on the 14th floor of the Executive Centre Hotel, 1088 Bishop St., were evacuated today as firefighters investigated smoke coming from the building. Eight fire companies responded to the 9:20 a.m. alarm. No injuries were reported.


2 men charged in gun incident

A 21-year-old 'Aiea man has been charged with pointing a pistol at a group of men and assaulting two of them during a confrontation early yesterday at Aloha Tower Marketplace.

Daniel Vo is charged with five counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, second- and third-degree assault, and two firearm offenses related to possession of a 9mm semiautomatic pistol with a defaced serial number.

Paul Spaulding, 19, was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening.

Both men were being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
