The following students have received academic recognition and scholarships:

• Mele Sato, Punahou School graduate attending Harvey Mudd College, a Meritorious Award for participating in the international Mathematical and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling.

• Richard Malins of Pearl City, the Beckman Scholars Award from Boston University's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program.

• AlohaCare Believes in Me Scholarships to University of Hawai'i students: Verma Acob, Dawn Baxter, Shirley Bonilla, Steven Connery, Lisa Garcia, Lisa Leonard, Shane Mizusawa, Michelle Sharp, Candace Takatsuka, Kimberly Tucker, Rogelio Cabaya, Rose Marie Justo, Jadelyn Shioshita, Bonnie Duncan, Teresa Hernandez, Claudia Skelton and Lori McKee.

• Andy Hata, enrolled in Syracuse University's College of Human Services and Health Professionals, a Founder's Scholarship.

• Ciel Pea, enrolled at Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts, named Dean's Scholar.

• Valerie Kunimoto and Francesca DePasquale, both Saint Francis School graduates, designated AP Scholars by the College Board for their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams, permitting them to take advanced placement courses while in high school.

• Brandon Lee, Castle High School graduate and art major, and Rachel Yoshizu, a Hawaii Baptist Academy graduate, on the spring semester Dean's List at Azusa Pacific University.

• Aimee Moo, named to the spring quarter Dean's List at Northeastern University.

• Cecily Su-Yun Reber of Honolulu, a Punahou graduate, membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars at University of California, Santa Cruz.

• Bradford Lee of Honolulu, a biochemical sciences major at Harvard University, a Udall Scholarship.
