'Take a Swing' offers shot at $1 million and Sony Open tickets

The "Take a Swing at Crime in the Sony Open" program, which allows players a chance to compete in the Sony Open Million Dollar Shot in January, will begin this weekend.

For a $10 fee, players who can hit a shot into a specified area become eligible for a possible finalist position at the Waialae Country Club on Jan. 18 after the PGA Tour's Sony Open is completed.

They also receive one daily admission ticket to the Sony Open, which runs from Jan. 12 to 18.

The program will be at the Waikele and Barbers Point courses Saturday. It will be at the Ko'olau course Dec. 6 and the Hawai'i Kai course Dec. 13.

Donations benefit the Crimestoppers Honolulu organization.
