Tonight's Must-See

"Kim Possible: A Stitch in Time," 8 p.m., Disney Channel; repeats at 9:20 and 10:40 p.m. The OKim Possible" cartoon series offers a cheerleader as superhero. Now comes a movie with a big plot and bursts of wit. Armed with a time-travel device, the villains go to Kim's past to thwart her. Then she leaps to the year 3000, when bad guys rule. The scenes in the past are fun; the ones in the future are a delight.

"Crossroads," 8 p.m., CMT. Dolly Parton and Melissa Etheridge come from opposite worlds. Parton is from the hills of Tennessee and Etheridge from the plains of Kansas. Parton grew up in a booming family of 14, stretching for attention; Etheridge was in a quiet family of four, stretching for emotion. Parton heard raucous church music. Etheridge didn't. They link beautifully. Each sings great songs written by the other from OCome to My Window" and OI Want To Be in Love" to OJolene" and OCoat of Many Colors."

Of Note

"Pet Star," 3, 5, 7 p.m., Animal Planet. This is the final round with the animal champion getting $25,000.

"Justin Timberlake: Down Home in Memphis," 7 p.m., NBC. Here's the special that NBC announced for Tuesday then delayed three days. Timberlake sings in his hometown of Memphis and tours the area.

"Dances With Wolves" (1990), 7:30 p.m., Pax TV; concludes Saturday. This film, shown over two days, offers epic vistas, plus the rich human story of an Army officer who befriends the Sioux. The result won seven Academy Awards, including best picture and director (Kevin Costner).

"Big Daddy" (1999), 7 p.m., Fox. Adam Sandler plays a shiftless chap who ends up caring for a young boy.

"Frosty the Snowman" and OFrosty Returns," 7 and 7:30 p.m., CBS. The first is a bright, fun cartoon, making ample use of the song. The second has no reason to exist. But, as always, your kids might like it.

"The George Lopez Show," 7 p.m., ABC. George drops plans to give his father a gift. Also, his daughter is working at a burrito place where he once worked.

"Ransom" (1996), 8 p.m., USA Network. Ron Howard directed this sharp film of a kidnapping and the parents (Mel Gibson, Rene Russo) who fight back. There's one plot twist too many, but it's still a terrific movie.

"Hope & Faith," 8 p.m., ABC. Here's a rerun of a broadly funny episode. It peaks with the sisters trying to remove a dead woman's ring before the funeral.
