DeCosta's two TD runs spark Damien, 17-13

Ranson DeCosta ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns to propel Damien to a 17-13 victory over Waimea last night at Vidinha Stadium on Kaua'i, to advance to the Division II championship game.

Damien (5-5), of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, will play 'Aiea (9-2), of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association, Friday at Aloha Stadium for the state championship.

DeCosta's second TD run of the game, a 4-yarder with 7:36 left to play, gave Damien a 17-13 lead. He scored in the first quarter on a 1-yard run.

Lolomana Mikaele intercepted Waimea quarterback John Palacio's pass with seven seconds left to seal the victory.

Fehi Sevelo had 15 tackles for Damien, three for loss.

Waimea, of the Kaua'i Interscholastic Federation, finished its season at 6-3.
