Cabagnot's layup boosts UH-Hilo past Dartmouth

Alex Cabagnot's layup as time expired lifted the University of Hawai'i-Hilo to a 50-48 men's basketball victory over Dartmouth College in the Hilo Shootout on the Big Island.

UH-Hilo improved to 3-1. Dartmouth is 1-2.

Dartmouth's Steve Callahan tied the game at 58 with a 3-pointer with 10 seconds to go.

Joe Travis had 13 points and seven rebounds to lead Hilo. Cabagnot added 11 points.

In another Shootout game, Rider defeated Quinnipiac, 89-70.

BYUH wins: Jake Chrisman scored a game-high 25 points and Shawn Opunui added 22 to lead Brigham Young-Hawai'i to an 87-63 victory over Adams State (Colo.) in the BYU-Hawai'i Thanksgiving Tournament at Cannon Activities Center.

BYUH is 3-2, Adams 2-2.

Brandon Brochinsky lead Adams with 23 points.

HPU loses: Fred Hooks scored 22 points and Austin Nickels added 15 to lead Humboldt State (Calif.) to an 87-86 victory over Hawai'i Pacific in double-overtime at Mid-Pacific gym last night

Humboldt State is 3-0, Hawai'i Pacific 0-4.

Marvin Noble scored a game-high 24 points for the Sea Warriors.
