Kobe Bryant may not join his Los Angeles Lakers teammates for training camp this week, team officials said today.

Bryant, the all-star guard who is facing sexual assault charges, was supposed to arrive in Honolulu today on a private jet. However, that flight plan was canceled because he was "under the weather."

"We're obviously disappointed that Kobe's not here with the basketball club with his teammates," Los Angeles head coach Phil Jackson. "I know the report is that he's under the weather. I wasn't told he was sick, I was told he was under the weather."

The Lakers' training camp in Honolulu started on Tuesday for players with less than four years of NBA experience.

Bryant and other Laker veterans were scheduled to report to training camp at the Stan Sheriff Center tomorrow. Team officials said Bryant will not be in attendance tomorrow, and his status for the remainder of the camp is uncertain.

"I'm not anticipating anything," Jackson said.

Bryant was charged in July with sexually assaulting a hotel clerk in Colorado. The preliminary hearing for the case is scheduled for Oct. 9 at Eagle, Colo.
