Board chairman steps down

After 11 years as chairman, Charlie Rodgers resigned Tuesday night from the Hawai'i Kai Neighborhood Board mainly because of his wife's illness.

Rodgers, a 15-year veteran of the neighborhood board system, leaves an at-large vacancy on the 15-member board. The board voted 9-2 to appoint Brett White chairman.

Councilman Charles Djou presented a resolution honoring Rodgers' work on the board signed by all nine members of the City Council.

"I am deeply honored by this board and we accomplished more than any other board and our neighborhood shows it," Rodgers said.
