Honolulu's Parker McLachlin qualified for this week's Nationwide Tour Bank of America Monterey Peninsula Classic. McLachlin shot 4-under-par 68 Monday at the Bayonet Course to place second in qualifying.
The $450,000 event is being played at the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses, in Seaside, Calif. It is McLachlin's second pro event. He qualified for the Albertson's Boise Open two weeks ago, but missed the cut.
McLachlin, the 1996 Hawai'i high school champion, plans to play in the first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying School at Bayonet the end of this month.
