Comparative religion series

The first in a free, three-lecture series on Buddha, Confucius & Christ: "What's the Difference? Does It Matter?" will be at 7 tonight at the Community Church of Honolulu, 2345 Nu'uanu Ave.

Keli'i Akina, a doctoral student at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa and the executive director of Hawaii Youth for Christ, will give tonight's two-hour presentation. The next two lectures in the series will be at the same time and place on subsequent Friday nights.

Art's nightlife strolls downtown

First Friday, a gallery walk in downtown Honolulu and Chinatown, is 5 to 9 p.m. today.

Over a dozen downtown galleries and studios will be marked by red balloons, opening their doors for an evening celebrating artists and art of all kinds. Stop by any participating venue for a free map.

At host gallery The ARTS at Marks Garage, artists of "Primitiva! Don Tiki's Tribute to the Exotic Sounds of Martin Denny" will be present at the closing reception for "5KG: Kauai 5-GO." 521-2903.
