 •  FERD LEWIS:
UH might be taking its last trip to Tulsa

Although it will be shown on K5 (Channel 5) in Honolulu, the UH-Tulsa football game will be the Warriors' debut on SportsWest, a Salt Lake City-based company with an agreement to do Western Athletic Conference and Mountain West Conference games.

SportsWest has its choice of games from those conferences that are not picked up by ESPN or ESPN2.

Under terms of their agreements, the conferences receive a share of any proceeds from the games.

According to a WAC spokesman, SportsWest supplies the announcers and crews, lines up the advertising and sells the games in various markets. The WAC said SportsWest has invested $800,000 in the product and the league "expects to realize returns" from the partnership.

The game will be shown in Honolulu and Tulsa, and made available on ESPN Plus.

It's going to be cool: Tulsa officials said they expect temperatures to be in the mid-50s for the 6 p.m. (Central time) kickoff tomorrow.

Planning ahead: WAC athletic directors wound up two days of meetings Wednesday in Dallas with no "major news to report," according to a conference spokesman.

Commissioner Karl Benson said schools have been required to draw up plans that will enable them to meet the conference's year-old post-season certification rule.

UH was reprimanded and fined $5,000 in March for not certifying its players for last Christmas' Hawai'i Bowl. Quarterback Tim Chang was suspended by the NCAA from the season opener with Appalachian State because he played while ineligible.

Benson said all members have pledged to have plans in place that will allow them to certify players for this year's bowls.
