BYUH, UH-Hilo win PacWest women's volleyball matches

Yu Chuan Weng had 18 kills and Vera Oliveira added 15 to lift third-ranked Brigham Young-Hawai'i to a 30-20, 30-23, 30-22 Pacific West Conference women's volleyball victory over Western New Mexico last night at Cannon Activities Center in La'ie.

BYUH is 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the PacWest. Western New Mexico is 8-10 and 0-3.

Liz Narkon had 14 kills and Kim Tano 10 for Western New Mexico. Narkon and Tano are St. Francis (Honolulu) graduates. Tano also led Western New Mexico with 10 digs.



Western New Mexico plays Hawai'i Pacific tonight.

Hilo sweeps Billings: Sara Pilgreen had 16 kills and 12 digs to lead Hawai'i-Hilo to a 30-28, 30-23, 30-22 Pacific West victory over Montana State-Billings at UHH Gymnasium in Hilo last night.

UH-Hilo is 4-7 overall, 1-1 in the PacWest. Montana State-Billings is 3-11, 0-3.



WATER POLO

BYUH 16th: The Brigham Young University-Hawai'i men's water polo team moved up two spots to 16th in the latest collegiate water polo poll released this week.

It matches the highest position held by the Seasiders (5-3) in the team's three-year history. BYU-Hawai'i reached the No. 16 spot last year on Nov. 11.
