Chock leads Chinese chamber

Terrill S.W. Chock, president of Hawaii Pacific Finance Ltd. and chief financial officer of the affiliated companies of GMP Hawaii, has been elected 2003-04 president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii.

Other officers are Winfred Pang, president-elect; Ming Chen, first vice president; Alvin Wong, second vice president; Michele Choy, English secretary; Ted Li, Chinese secretary; Libby Lew, treasurer; Leonard Kam, assistant treasurer; Elvira Lo, auditor; and Reuben Wong, immediate past president.



Kahi Mohala appoints Dr. Ona

Kahi Mohala has appointed Dr. Celia Ona its medical director.

Ona specializes in psychiatry, with special interests in clinical psychopharmacology, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and electro convulsive therapy. She was recently named president-elect of the Hawaii Psychiatric Medical Association for 2004.

Ona is an associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Hawai'i John A. Burns School of Medicine and is the former associate administrator of clinical services at Hawai'i State Hospital in Kane'ohe.



Dennis gets post at youth agency

Joel Dennis has been appointed to the newly created position of director of admissions at Maui Youth and Family Services.

Dennis has been with the organization for nearly three years, working at Ho'omana, the Independent Living Program. In his new capacity, he will coordinate and assist service providers in having youthful clients placed.

"I wanted to do something that was different, and yet made a contribution," Dennis said. "This is absolutely inspiring work. ... It's probably the most rewarding."



Businesswomen name officers

Ella Dalton, a member of the American Business Women's Association, has been named president of Punahele Chapter for 2003-04. Other officers are Katherine Min, vice president; Elsie Kawakone, secretary; and Esther Crandall, treasurer.



Nishimoto heads Mililani Sunrise

Rotary Club of Mililani Sunrise officers for 2003-04 are Yolette Nishimoto, president; Dexter Yee, president-elect; Jodie Brede, vice president; and Kyeton Uyechi, treasurer.



Women elect Llanes president

Hawaii Business and Professional Women's elected officers are Laurie Llanes, owner of Hawaii Coffee Connection, president; Susan Boyter, president-elect; Della Wase Nakamoto, vice president; Muriel Boot, secretary; and Pamela Silva, treasurer.



League inducts new leaders

The Assistance League of Hawaii, a nonprofit philanthropic organization, has inducted its new officers. They are Raynette Scruton, president; Barbara Bachmann, vice president; Connie Culbertson, recording secretary; Eileen Urquhart, corresponding secretary; and Penny Hackenson, treasurer.
