Kapa'a water found to be OK

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — Bacteriological test results received yesterday showed the water in Kapa'a town is safe to drink after sediment from the bottom of the Ornellas Tank was sucked into water mains Tuesday. The Water Department said a failed valve raised silt from the tank bottom, allowing it to flow into the waterlines. Most lines were flushed by Tuesday afternoon.

School to get new playground

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — Students and parents at Wilcox Elementary School raised more than $17,500 for new playground equipment this fall through fund-raising.

Working with Pizza Hut, the students sold literacy cards and held pizza nights to collect money for the equipment. The cards are good for a two-for-one deal on carry-out pizza.
