O'ahu water use down 4 percent

Water use on O'ahu dropped substantially this past week, to the lowest point since the Honolulu Board of Water Supply began issuing weekly drought status reports.

Water customers used 156.20 million gallons per day for the week ending Wednesday, a 4 percent drop from the 162.22 million gallons per day use the week before and 11 percent less than the same week last year.
The Board of Water Supply has asked O'ahu residents to restrict their lawn and garden watering to between 12:01 a.m. and 10 a.m., or between 6 p.m. and midnight, on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Water use was down in four of the six water management districts on O'ahu. The biggest declines were in the Honolulu and the 'Ewa-Wai'anae districts, where water use declined 3.05 million gallons per day and 3.01 million gallons per day, respectively.
Use was also down in the Waialua-Kahuku (1.13 million gallons per day) and Wahiawa (0.18 million gallons per day) districts.
Water use was up in the Pearl Harbor (0.87 million gallons per day) and Windward (0.48 million gallons per day) districts.
