MAX ROFFMAN, 93, of Seattle, Wash., formerly of Hawai'i, died Oct. 3, 2003. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. A retired social and labor activist who was on the original organizing staff of the United Public Workers in Hawai'i; active with the Hawai'i Peace Council and Kokua Council for Senior Citizens; and producer of the public television program, "Rice and Roses." Survived by wife, Marian; son, Daniel; daughters, Norma Cucci and Laurie; granddaughter, Karinn Lane. Arrangements by Bleitz Funeral Home, Seattle.

RICHARD GIVENS SCOTT, 69, of Honolulu, died Oct. 4, 2003. Born in Honolulu. Retired as a construction foreman.
