Tonight's Must See

Tom Hanks is a killer for a 1930s Irish-American mob in "The Road to Perdition."

Associated Press

"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. A year ago, "Saturday Night Live" opened its season with a sketch mocking Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. And now? Tonight's show has Timberlake as the host and musical guest. Next Saturday's show (with Halle Berry hosting) has Spears as musical guest.

"A Tale of Two Wives," 5 and 7 p.m., Oxygen. The first movie made for Oxygen is short on originality but long on charm and fun. Peter Gallagher ("The O.C.") plays a psychiatrist who splits his time between London and New York. No one realizes he has a wife in each place. The fun comes after the women, played by Cheryl Hines ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") and Dervla Kirwan, find out.

Of Note

Auto racing, 1:30 p.m., NBC. Here's a NASCAR race from Concord, N.C.

"The Road to Perdition" (2002), 5 p.m., HBO. Tom Hanks plays a hit man who goes on a vengeance spree in this movie, superbly directed by Sam Mendes. One scene, as Paul Newman and his men begin to enter their cars, is put together with awesome skill.

"Toy Story" (1995), 7 p.m., ABC. This film combines animation and a witty script about feuding toys that must work together.

"Mrs. America Pageant," 8 p.m., PAX TV. TV mom Florence Henderson presides as 51 married women, ages 23-45, compete for the title of Mrs. America from the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

"Hack," 8 p.m., CBS. Even after he's found not guilty of murder, a man's life is ruined. Mike helps.

"The District," 9 p.m., CBS. Mannion wants his ex-wife (played by the talented Jean Smart) to become his chief of detectives. That complicates a life that also includes the lawyer he's dating (Jaclyn Smith) and his landlady (Vanessa Bell Calloway).
