Group plans interfaith talk

The Believers All Network and the faculty and students of the world religion class at Punahou School are putting on a follow-up discussion to their May presentation, "Finding Common Ground."

The keynote presentation by Saleem Ahmed, "My Religion Also Says That!" will be followed by a panel discussion, "Does my religion also say that? How do we move forward?"

Ahmed, a Muslim, is the author of "Beyond Veil and Holy War" and founder of the Believers All Network.

The two-hour presentation will be 7 p.m. Oct 23 at the Thurston Chapel on the Punahou campus.

Representatives from other faiths have been invited to discuss their music and dance, and reflect on the path of mysticism. They include: Bah‡'’, Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, native American, Daoism, Hawaiian spirituality, Hinduism, Judaism, Sikhism and Zoroastrianism

Seminar to have educator track

New for the next Hawaiian Island Ministries annual convention, dubbed "Walk on Water, Honolulu 2004," will be a track for religious educators.

A seminar track for teachers is among the 80 workshops for the 16th annual ecumenical convention, to be held Feb. 26 to 28 at the Hawai'i Convention Center.

Hawaiian Island Ministries and the Association of Christian Schools International have teamed up for the new track.

Peace prayer service Oct. 26

The Hawai'i Conference of Religions for Peace, a local organization affiliated with the United States Conference of Religions for Peace, will have its 12th annual peace prayer service at 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at Gedatsu Church, 6095 Summer St.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. Sam Cox, and prayers by various religious organizations will be said during the two-hour prayer service.
