HPU, Australian school sign deal

Hawai'i Pacific University has signed an agreement with Southern Cross University in Australia to enable graduates of the HPU Master of Arts degree in Organizational Change to be admitted as doctoral candidates in Organizational Change and Development at SCU.

HPU students who have completed a Master's degree in other disciplines will be required to complete one of two certificates — the Certificate in Organizational Change and Development or the Certificate in National and Community Change and Development — before admittance to the doctoral program. Each certificate requires the completion of four HPU graduate courses.

The degrees are suited to professionals working in government, private industry, health care, the military and higher education.

Preschool fair planned Oct. 22

Parents are invited to learn about preschools at a fair Oct. 22 sponsored by the Hawai'i Association of Independent Schools.

An educational consultant and directors from more than 20 pre-schools will have information about admissions and curriculum. The free event is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ala Wai Golf Clubhouse.

ACT registration deadlines near

High school students interested in taking the ACT test for college admissions have two opportunities to register before the Dec. 13 national test day.

Registration must be postmarked by Nov. 7, or by a late deadline of Nov. 20, to qualify for the test, which covers English, reading, math and science. Most colleges accept the scores for admission and placement. There is a $26 fee for the test, and an additional fee for late registration.

Students can register or find out more about the test online at www.act.org, or ask their school counselor for information.
