How Hawai'i hotels are faring

Statewide hotel occupancy increased by 6.7 percent to 74.4 percent for the week ended Oct. 11 over the same week last year, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. But the statewide average daily room rate slipped by 3.2 percent to $131.94. Kaua'i led the islands with 86.2 percent occupancy, a 7.3 percent increase, while O'ahu occupancy increased to 75.9 percent and maintained an average rate of $116.90. Maui occupancy climbed to 74.2 percent while holding the highest room rate at $160.11. Big Island occupancy fell to 61 percent.
