Advertiser Staff and News Services

In keeping with the trend toward wearing not-quite-new wedding gowns, the students in the fashion division of the UH-Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture & Human Resources are selling gently worn gowns for $125 each to raise scholarship money.

The size 6 through 10 gowns are available through Lorrie Chang of Allegra at 3198 Wai'alae Ave., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays or by calling 732-3133 for an appointment. Alterations will cost extra.

Marquesas mission

The Mission Houses Museum is looking south to the Marquesas with an exhibit of artwork and traditional arts Friday through Dec. 4 and a series of demonstrations by Marquesan artists, lectures and discussions. A lecture by art historian Carol Ivory at 7 tonight introduces "The Marquesas: Two Centuries of Cultural Traditions." The free talk is in the Hawaii Mission Children's Society library on the museum grounds.

Coming up: Two days of performances and demonstrations by six visiting artists, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, and a pau hana event at 5:30 p.m. Friday including art demonstrations, dance and music featuring performances by students of the University of Hawai'i -Manoa Music Department (performances and pau hana event free with museum admission). More lectures are also scheduled. Information: 531-0481.

Perry & Price packing

Wanted: Waikiki dining space, preferably on the water or with a view; for occupancy only on Saturday mornings.

That would be the classified ad for the Michael W. Perry-Larry Price breakfast radio show, now broadcast every Saturday morning from the Hanohano Room atop the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

Because of planned renovations at the Hanohano Room (the buzz is it will be a steakhouse), the site will no longer be available. So the radio hosts and KSSK-AM/FM are looking for an alternate site, said Chuck Cotton, Hawai'i market manager for Clear Channel Communications (which includes KSSK).

The Dec. 6 and 13 shows will be relocated to the Sheraton's Princess Kai'ulani Hotel's 'Ainahau Ballroom, according to Sheraton public relations director B.J. Whitman.

Toys R them, too

Before John Ritter died, he was photographed for the "Toys R Us Toy Guide for Differently Abled Kids." Also on the cover: Two cute 5-year-olds, Megan Anne Schiedler, who has Down syndrome, and Ritter's daughter, Stella.

A letter from Ritter inside the cover tells of his brother's cerebral palsy: "His experiences have taught my family about the special challenges faced by loved ones."

The free guide, available at Toys R Us stores, offers tips on buying toys for children with disabilities.
