Center to help home buyers

Advertiser Staff

The Hawaii HomeOwnership Center, a nonprofit organization financed mostly with grants from companies related to the real estate industry, will open an office at the Gentry Pacific Design Center tomorrow to help first-time home buyers.

Kendall Hirai, executive director, says the center hopes to help 400 buyers purchase homes over the next three years. Homeownership on O'ahu has averaged about 55 percent over the past 10 years in contrast to the national average of 65 percent.

The center will be holding classes. For information call 523-9500.
