4:15 p.m. — My wedding-planning crisis is over.

I think I feel that ulcer going away and my face clearing up. I will finally be able to sleep tonight.

For a while, I thought I was going to have to send out new invitations and change my reception site.

As of this afternoon, the situation is under control, thanks to the catering manager and general manager at the Hale Koa Hotel and the people at Creations in Catering who went out of their way to help me out.

I owe them my sincere gratitude for being compassionate and understanding and making some snags in the plans disappear.

There's now sure to be food, drink and merriment at the reception.

And there's probably a deeper meaning in the fact that my wedding is on Thanksgiving weekend. My groom and I have much to be grateful for, including all the people who want to help us get hitched without a hitch.

It feels like a burden has been lifted, just when I was feeling like an underachiever in the wedding-planning department.

When I started writing today's journal entry, I had just gone to lunch with a girlfriend whose wedding is two weeks before mine.

I thought she seemed so much more together than I was.

(Her dress is being altered. Mine's not in yet. She's already doing a centerpiece test with balloons to see how long the helium will last. My centerpieces have not yet materialized. She came armed with a gift for me. I had nothing in return.)

At the end of the meal, she pulled out a Post-It note and crossed me off her list of things to do and people to see. I made an internal note to keep more lists.

Now I have a list of things to celebrate. And it's good to see that list growing.
