Hawai'i American Water, a privately owned sewer company serving Hawai'i Kai and parts of Kuli'ou'ou, expressed disappointment yesterday with the Consumer Advocate's office recommendation for a 3.5 percent rate decrease.

The company, which had sought an 18.6 percent increase, plans to provide information addressing state concerns in hopes of getting the increase.

The state Public Utilities Commission is expected to make a decision next year. Residents will be notified in advance of any rate changes.
