3 injured in 2 separate crashes

Advertiser Staff

Three people were injured, two critically, in separate crashes involving a motorcycle early yesterday in Kahuku and a pickup truck Thursday on St. Louis Drive.

A Sunset Beach woman was a passenger on a 1991 Honda motorcycle that crashed on Kamehameha Highway near the Turtle Bay Resort at 1:25 a.m. yesterday after failing to negotiate a bend in the road. She was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

A 29-year-old Wahiawa man driving the motorcycle is also at Queen's with serious injuries.

Investigators said speed appears to be a factor, and both riders were not wearing helmets. The motorcycle was west-bound.

In a Thursday crash at 3:06 p.m., a 52-year-old man was injured when he lost control of his 1990 Mazda pickup and struck rock and hollow tile walls between 1553 and 1559 St. Louis Drive before coming to a stop after hitting a mailbox. Police said he was taken to Queen's Medical and is in critical condition.
