Mililani curbside recycling begins

Advertiser Staff

The four-month Mililani curbside recycling pilot project will begin Nov. 3.

The city began distributing green trash carts to Mililani residents Friday. The carts will be used for greenwaste and mixed recyclables, but residents may use their existing gray cart for all pickups.

The pilot project will test a curbside pickup program that allows residents to mix aluminum, plastic, glass and newspapers in one container.

City crews will pick up recyclables every other week and greenwaste on the alternating week.

Regular trash pickup will be two days a week, as usual.

The following pickup schedule begins Nov. 3. The first week's recycling collection will be greenwaste.

• Monday and Thursday collection: Monday, refuse; Tuesday, recyclables; and Thursday, refuse.

• Tuesday and Friday collection: Tuesday, refuse; Wednesday, recyclables; and Friday, refuse.

• Wednesday and Saturday collection: Wednesday, refuse; Thursday, recyclables; Saturday, refuse.
