Killing happened at site of drug raids

Police have conducted several narcotics raids at the Pamoho Place home in 'Aiea where a 49-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday.

Maj. Doug Miller said Pearl City police had received complaints from the community about drug activity at the residence.

Greg Morishima, 49, was visiting a friend at the Pamoho Place home when he was gunned down by three masked men at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, police said. Morishima died about two hours later at The Queen’s Medical Center.

Police said Morishima was shot at least three times. An autopsy determined that Morishima died of a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

The gunmen fled in a sport-utility vehicle and are still at large. Police said two were carrying pistols and the third man a rifle.

Homicide investigators said the shooting may be drug-related.

In April 2002, police found wanted fugitive Clinton Candelario at the Pamoho Place home where Sunday’s shooting occurred. Candelario, who had a troubled history of drug use, ran out of the house and through the neighborhood to Kauhale Street, where he was fatally shot by police while trying to steal a car.

In a case unrelated to Sunday’s killing, police today were seeking charges against a 30-year-old man in connection with the shooting of two people outside a Kailua bar.

A boy, 16, and 24-year-old man were shot at about 12:30 a.m. outside of Porky’s Sports Pub and Grill at 32 Maluniu Ave. Three to five men were said to have confronted the 30-year-old man, whom police said may have been punched in the face by the teen. The group chased the man to his car, where he allegedly took out a gun and fired three shots.

The man was booked on suspicion of three counts of attempted second-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder and a firearms offense.
