Prince concerts canceled on O'ahu, Maui

Advertiser Staff

The artist once again known as Prince has cancelled two Hawai’i concerts planned for this week.

The shows were scheduled for Thursday at Pipeline Café on O’ahu, and Saturday at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater. They were cancelled just hours after tickets for the O’ahu show went on sale yesterday at 5 p.m.

Patrons hoping to purchase tickets to Prince’s Maui show, which were to go on sale at MACC this morning, were informed of the cancellation by box office management while waiting in line.

No official reason for the cancellation was issued by show promoter Goldenvoice this morning. Ticket buyers on Maui were told by MACC box office management that the musician cancelled the shows after falling ill following a concert in Brisbane, Australia.

MACC box office management did not return a call for comment.

Point-of-purchase refunds for the Pipeline Café show are being issued by Ticketmaster and Foodland locations where tickets were bought. Tickets purchased online or by phone from Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded. For more information, call Ticketmaster at (877) 750-4400.
