State Hospital escapee nabbed after scuffle

A 32-year-old man reported missing from the Hawai'i State Hospital yesterday afternoon was arrested seven hours later in Sunset Beach.David Mainaaupo was booked on suspicion of second-degree escape and released to hospital officials. Wahiawa police officers responded to disturbance complaints from residents on the 59-100 block of Ke Nui Road about a man shouting his name. Mainaaupo was arrested after a brief scuffle with police. No injuries were reported.
Mainaaupo had been last seen by hospital staff at 1:45 p.m. on his way to do nursery work.
